How to Replace the Battery in a Next Century Remote Reader (RR4 & RR4-TR)

Applicable Devices: RR4 and RR4-TR Remote Readers
Battery Type: ER18505 (included in the BAT301 Kit) - We can provided the batteries if needed 

Required Materials

  • BAT301 Battery Replacement Kit

  • NextCentury Mobile App (or WebPortal)

  • DC301 Direct Connect tool (required for configuration/reset)

Step-by-Step Battery Replacement

Follow these steps to physically replace the battery in your RR301 Remote Reader:

  1. Remove the Remote Reader:

    • Pull down the locking tab located at the base of the unit.

    • Remove the Remote Reader from its mounting plate. A helpful tip is to pull from the bottom of the reader to easily detach it.

  2. Open the Unit:

    • Twist the base of the RR301 counter-clockwise.

    • Carefully remove the internal unit from the housing.

  3. Replace the Battery:

    • Pull down and detach the old battery.

    • Connect the new battery to the Remote Reader.

    • Insert the new battery and reconnect the base by twisting it back into place.

      4. Verify and Update (if necessary):

  1. Swipe the magnet again to verify the change.
