This article provides a guide for replacing the battery in your TR4 Transceiver.
The battery you will be replacing is the large blue cylinder located on the left side of the TR4 Transceiver, connected by red and black wires.
Note: This battery replacement is designed to be a simple, plug-and-play process. Think of it as unplugging and plugging in a miniature charger.
The battery connects to the transceiver via a small white battery wire terminal (also known as a connector) in front of the battery. This terminal has two parts:
The Base: A fixed, hollow box containing two internal pins that remains on the transceiver.
The Plug: The movable part attached to the battery's red and black wires. This is the part you need to remove.
To remove the plug:
Recommended Tools: Use either needle-nose pliers or your fingernails.
Technique:
Needle-Nose Pliers: Gently grip the very top of the plug and pull straight up. A slight back-and-forth wiggle can help loosen it.
Fingernails: Wedge one fingernail on each side of the plug in the gap between the plug and the base. Pull up while gently wiggling the plug side-to-side.
Caution: The internal pins within the base are incredibly fragile. Do not use excessive force during removal to prevent damage.
Once the plug is disconnected, carefully remove the entire old battery unit from the transceiver.
Place the new battery into the transceiver, ensuring the red and black wires are positioned freely for connection.
Insert the new battery's plug into the base connector. Pay close attention to the orientation:
When looking at the transceiver from the front, the black wire should be on the bottom.
The red wire should be on the top.
Press the red button located in the upper-left corner of the transceiver.
Success Confirmation: If you see an LED flash red and/or green, the battery has been successfully replaced and the transceiver is functioning.
