OVERVIEW: Open the TR4 transceiver. The big blue cylinder on the left with red & black wires is the battery you will be changing.
Please note that this guide may make this very simple process look a lot harder than it actually is. Changing these batteries is as easy as unplugging an old phone charger and plugging in a new one, except this is just a whole lot smaller.

- 1.) Notice this small white box in front of the battery, being pointed to by a flathead screwdriver. This is the battery wire terminal. It has two parts:
- The base - this is a hollow box that holds two pins.
- The plug - this is attached to the red & black wires, and it sits inside the base.
- You will be removing ONLY the plug. The base will remain on the transceiver. You can see where they separate in the image - the tip of the flathead screwdriver sits in between the edge of the base and the top cap of the plug.
- To remove the plug, I recommend using either a pair of needle nose pliers, or your fingernails.
- Needle Nose Pliers: Grip the very top of the plug and gently pull up. You can wiggle back and forth a bit to help loosen the plug, but don’t use too much force because there are interior pins that are incredibly fragile.
- Fingernails: Using your thumb and forefinger, wedge each fingernail into the space between the plug and the base on either side. While pulling up, gently wiggle the plug back and forth to help loosen it. Don’t use too much force because there are interior pins that are incredibly fragile.
- 2.) Once the plug is free, the battery should look like this:

- 3.) Remove the old battery from the transceiver. The device should now look like this:

- 4.) Put the new battery in place of the old one, with the red and black wires free:

- 5.) Insert the plug into the base. When looking at the transceiver from this angle, the black wire should be on the “bottom”, and the red wire should be on the “top”.

6.) Press the red button in the upper-left corner.
If you see an LED flash red and/or green, you’ve successfully changed the battery!
