TR4 Transmitter Wiring & Troubleshooting Guide

This guide provides clear, step‑by‑step instructions for opening, wiring, and resetting a Next Century TR4 transmitter, along with next steps if additional help is needed.

Step 1: Open the Transmitter
Locate the Next Century transmitter (TR4) and confirm the unit label matches the corresponding unit.
For example, a transmitter labeled
“A-101” should be installed in Unit A-101

To open the transmitter, press the tab on the side opposite the unit label. Inside, you’ll see either three pins or a blue block next to the blue battery.

Step 2: Remove the Blue Block
Gently pull the blue block from the right side—needle-nose pliers can help.
(Do
not unscrew the small flathead screws at the top to remove it.)

Step 3: Wire the Blue Block
Locate the two wires coming from the water meter (A) and insert them into the far-left two ports on the blue block (B). Tighten the screws on top to secure both wires. (Photos provided below) Note: The wires are not polarity sensitive and can be connected in any order.

(A) (B)

Reinsert the blue block into the transmitter, ensuring the wires are connected to
IN and GND. Leave OUT empty.

Step 4: Reset the Transmitter

Lastly, press the Reset button in order to force the transmitter to communicate with the Gateway.

The TR4 LED blinks red rapidly while transmitting and blinks green twice if a response from the Gateway is received.
