Troubleshooting No Consumption

OVERVIEW:

For non-advancing meters, the first step would be to do a bucket test. This will test the meter itself for accuracy as well as the pulse output capabilities: Before getting started, verify the status of the transceiver itself, specifically the wiring between the two devices. Make sure there is no damage to the wire and that the connection to the transceiver hasn’t been interrupted. Note - this also includes the splice kits used in outdoor instances. Pull the wiring out of the gel cap and verify the splice kits are intact.

For Splice Kits:

**See meter inaccuracy> Splice Kit Guide**

For Bucket Test:

**See meter inaccuracy > Bucket Test (Pulse Ring)**

If the bucket test passes and the meter is producing a pulse, the issue could be the transceiver itself. If this is the suspected cause, you will want to check the transceiver itself for pulses.

  1. To do this you will need to cut the wire just before the splice kit if using submersible, or disconnect wires from the blue block in the transceiver itself.

    1. Strip the end of the wires.

    2. Touch the exposed wires together a few times

    3. Reset the transceiver connected to the DCAP

  2. **See Transmitter(s) Offline > Tehama reset guide**

    1. Verify if the transceiver recorded a pulse

If this test is performed and the transceiver still doesn’t produce a pulse, the transceiver will need to be replaced.
