Step-by-Step Ethernet Connection

1. Ensure Power is Connected: Make sure your Gateway is already powered on (the POWER LED should be solid green).
   
2. Prepare the Cable: Use the Ethernet cable provided in your Gateway package.
   
3. Connect to Gateway: Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the Gateway (often labeled 'Ethernet' or 'LAN').
   
4. Connect to Network: Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into an available port on a network switch or router that has an active internet connection.
   
5. Wait for Confirmation: Allow the Gateway a minute or two to establish its connection. The Gateway will attempt to obtain an IP address via DHCP automatically.
   
6. Verify Status: The POWER LED on the Gateway will change from solid green (powered on) to solid blue (cloud connected).
   

 

Important Network Notes

While the Gateway typically connects automatically, be aware of the following technical considerations:

1. Static IP Addresses: The Gateway does not require a static IP address unless your specific network configuration demands it. If needed, configuration must be performed using the 'Direct Connect' feature on the Next Century Mobile App (NCSS).
   
2. Firewall Restrictions: If the POWER LED remains green, your network may have firewall restrictions. You may need to ask your IT manager to create a whitelist policy for the Gateway to allow TCP traffic and access to the Next Century Cloud

3. WAN or LAN: The Gateway is flexible and can be placed on either a Wide Area Network (WAN) or Local Area Network (LAN) segment.
